You can test the thermostat in a pan of water on the stove, just don't let the wife see ya. You will have to go to the dealer$hip or Atlantic british has them on sale for $18 if you can wait.

We think it was just a stubborn air pocket.
He is going to drive it around tommorrow and then let it cool all day and check the coolant level again.
He will post what he finds.

You'll be the first to know, Elboy- thanks for all the help you've provided so far... as I said before, you all have come to my rescue, and given me the feeling of companionship so many times when I've been faced with problems like this.

She's idling- about to go for a very short drive. Leaving Mandy here on "stand by" in case I gotta park the old gal tonight.

Thats one of the nice things about this forum, you can learn alot from others.
Bookmark threads that might pertain to you for later use.
www.atlanticbritish.com has a nice tech section at the bottom of the page.
www.discoweb.org also has a nice tech section.
I did 9 months or research before I even started looking for my Rover and I have been a Rover fan ever since I was 12 or so but not serious until I actually got one.
I almost bought a brand new '95 Disco in '95, then a used one in '98, then again in '02, I was going to trade my Infiniti for a '99 DII, but then I actually got one in April of '07.
It's been a true love affair ever since.
