Texas has no road tax, just registration and inspection. I had my D2 inspected day before yesterday and it was $7 in my county, registration is $63 so "road tax" is not much here in Texas. I drive my D2 about 5,000 miles a year and yea insurance costs about $100 for full coverage but I will keep my D2 as long as i can afford putting money into it. I would love to check off everything on the OPs list and then get the head gaskets done (140,000 miles). Don't know if it was done before I bought it but I want to make sure. I would love to buy it, get the head gaskets done and enjoy it as my daily driver and off-road machine.

 

After a long hard bit of thinking I realized I couldn't part with my beloved DII. Knowing I was going to keep her, she went into the shop last week and had the head gaskets replaced and machined to keep her on the road for hopefully another 100k miles. I really do love that truck, and probably keep it until one day its a "classic". Thanks to all who chimed in, as all in all it kind of helped me decide I just couldn't part with her. Here's hoping for a lot of trail miles yet to come.
