Default For those that have had heads milled/valve job

What was the turnaround time? I am having mine milled and new valve guide seals installed and it is taking a little longer than I expected. The shop came with good recommendations and after seeing the age of the guys working there it seemed like there was PLENTY of experience. The gentleman at the counter was able to identify my heads as I walked through the door!!

Seems like the good shops always take longer...

Mine took about a week to have them milled and a valve job. I alsp had them clean my lower intake manifold.

Default Valve Job

I think mine took about a week. When I got the heads back they looked like new. The shop checked everything, lapped the valves, replaced the seals, shimmed a couple of springs. I'm glad they did a thorough job.

The guy I go to gets things done by the next day. His shop is chocked full of **** but he is very skilled. Pretty much the only old school machinist/mechanic left in the area. His rates seem like they were never updated since 1985. I always pay him more because his prices are so fair.

I dropped my heads off at the shop yesterday and was told it will take ~ 3 days (its a one man shop) and will cost $290 + tax to get them cleaned, rebuilt, resurfaced and a dye penetrant test done on them (cant magnaflux them as aluminium is a non-ferrous metal dontcha know). I supplied the parts to get them rebuilt. That should give you some idea of time and money.
hope it helps

At your mileage and assuming you haven't over heated the engine, none of that work is even necessary. Worse case you have them throw a straight edge on it to make sure it is with in tolerance. If you have been using good gas, seals are rarely needed till around 200,000 miles and if you can stay away from resurfacing the heads just for the sake of it, you won't have head gasket/compression issues.
As for normal turn around time, if you had an appointment with the machine shop, they should have had the heads ready next day.
