I think Abran would say “butchered”, but yes, it is one of his. Did that for the mechanical temp gauge.

Is there an official HOW TO for the inline thermostat mod with parts etc?
If so, can it be put here - https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...t-reads-26352/

I hope to make it more official by the end of the month, working on a website to offer inline thermostats for other makes/engine swaps. Would prefer to keep it via private emails for now.

I just got one of Extinct kits installed last night. Very straight forward and temps held 179-187 on my drive around the neighborhood and in the driveway after. Initial start up saw temps of 200-205 right after the bleeding but due to my car not being level at the time I don't think it fully bled until the drive around the block. Excited to see how it performs off-road at high elevation and on prolonged steep grades on the highway.

@whowa004 I think that is typical of the install it takes a bit of a drive to push any air out through the return hose.

Has any one with a oil temp gauge seen a decrease in oil temperatures on highway and city with these lower temps ?????

@redwhitekat interesting question, I only checked pressures (still on the black LR Thermostat). But based on my testing you should have better pressure and therefore "logically" lower oil temps.

At 188 to 190 my oil pressure with RP 10/40 synthetic is mid 20's hot idle - mid 40s at 2000 rpm after driving for 30 minutes
At 197 hot idle drops to 18-16 psi 2000 rpm about the same
My 04 has no oil cooler, although I may add one

I only hook the pressure gauge up as a TS aid, I figure it is one more thing I will obsess over

The electronic gauge from Autool I use has a readout for oil temperature, I have not determined where the OBD data stream gets the data from but it reads approximately 15 degrees warmer than the coolant temp once warmed up (they read the same at startup obviously). On my truck with the oil pressure gauge I see similar hot idle increase in pressure as RG with lower temps, I run 15w40 Diesel Dino oil.

i know the coolant somewhat cools the oil. So your saying your oil temp is around 200-205 degrees Fahrenheit?
I wonder what the oil is when running on a 190 oem thermostat that can get up to 230
