Sounds like you ran into an honest seller anyway. To bad about the engine, she looked pretty clean.

Might be in a position to negotiate a different price. Don't be predatory or a low-baller and keep contact with the seller. Once they get into it they may balance the repair vs selling the truck for a lower price. Assuming you would be willing to tackle the engine issue. Buying a good Disco with a bad motor is not a bad way to go if the price is right and they can be bad in so many ways, from sort-fo bad to really bad. That's what I mostly did. My truck is really solid and the engine runs and is drivable but is tired. I would rather tackle mechanical problems vs rust, crap interiors, abuse and electrical woes.

I scored on a 1990 BMW 325iX (AWD) years ago because I was the only interested party that did not annoy the seller. A incredible car I should have never sold.
