Hi Everyone !

I'm finally gonna get a Discovery, I've wanted one for years so I'm gonna scoot down to the USA to pick one up !! Whooo HOO!!!

But, what exactly is the differance between a Discovery and a Discovery Series II?

I can't find any info on that .... but someone here must know! (grin) I'm looking to get a
2002 or 2003 but if you have ANY suggestions I'd love to hear them! Is it true that the models
don't overlap and skip a year in there someplace?

i dont know much about the differences between the two but i would go with a 03 or 04

 

If you can do it, go for the '04. I have an '03 and love it but I don't do any hard off-roading. The '04 has a locking transfer case ( i think that's what it is). Which gives you more options when it comes to being better suited for off-roading.

Other's will chime in here in a bit. I'm still relatively new to Land Rover's. And this site is fantastic for getting help!

series 1's were produced until mid 1999, then the series 2 came out. Best way to te see the difference is teh raised tail lights. I agree as posted before, go for the 04 if you can. If not, still stick to the 03 but watch the oil pump. The 03 came out with a 4.6 as opposed to the previous 4.0 in the 02. You will like the increased power. 04 is the last year and best of everything

 

Well I don't have the coin for an 04 ...I wish, .... (grin)

Is there anything else to consider for a series 1 over or versus a series 2?

If I buy the 02 or 03 ...will I be getting the series 2 automaticlly?
