Default Thoughts on Proline aftermarket parts?

I've been trying to mostly buy genuine parts, but sometimes the cost difference of Proline is hard to ignore. Proline seems to make more of the OE parts than any other supplier. Specific examples I'm looking at now are the 3 pulleys + idler tensioner, water pump. OEM is about double the cost. If the OE pulleys last twice as long - then I'll probably go OE, but if I'm just paying for the Rover name, then Proline seems like the right call. Anyone care to weigh in?

side note - I wish Atlantic British labeled their aftermarket parts better. Roversnorth always specifies the manufacturer but AB does not.

I can't answer your specific question about idler and tensioners, but I have bought Proline parts and have been just fine. I have an aftermarket water pump that has a cast bronze impeller. I can't remember who made it, but it has been just fine too. Your experience may vary.

Also check with Lucky 8 on parts. They offer a forum member discount and my dealings with Erik and Justin are always extremely pleasant.

As for Proline, I can't tell you any specifics but I can tell you that springing for OEM on almost any parts (save for the MAF and O2 sensors) is useless.

Agreed, Lucky8 is great - I keep forgetting to check them for some reason. They did me a big solid figuring out my driveshaft. I will start buying from them more. Looking at them now, and they often don't list the manufacturer either (and sometimes no picture). PAS Pump Pulley for $10 aftermarket... or $150 genuine.. hmm I think that one is a no brainer.

Dang I bought the o2 sensor kit last weekend from AB.. on sale.. I'm a sucker for the "kits"... Oxygen Sensor Kit - Land Rover Discovery 2 has great reviews, but not OE? I don't think AB even sells OE o2 sensors.
