Default Thoughts on a replacement battery?

Seems like my battery goes dead if I leave the door open for more then a half hour while working on the car which doesn't sound normal. It's an '03 Disco and the battery is not the original and was put into service in mid 2005.

I think of batteries like tires and usually pay more for a good one then a bargain one. Any thoughts on the Optima yellow sprial batteries? Are they worth it?

If you are a heavy offroader an Optima is ideal. If not go with a Duralast Gold from Autozone. A good battery, warranty and with plenty of CCAs.

If you are not running a winch, the yellow top may be overkill, but very good. I would suggest you buy a Red Top at Costco.
For what it is worth, I run dual Yellow Tops because of my winch , HID lights, Engle and all me other electrical stuff, and I swear by them.

If you want a single battery that will resist deep discharge fairly well and crank well cold look at the Odyssey options on the Expedition Exchange site. They have the advantages of AGM (Absorbed glass mat) do not release any gas/acid at all (so won't foam up/corrode things) and should last you nearly 10 years if you keep them in good charge with moderate discharging.

I bought a 1000cca battery from AutoZone for $85. The Interstate that was in it I had no idea how old it was but still held a good charge, but with winter here I replaced it anyway.
8yr warrenty from AutoZone.

How do you wire up dual batteries, parallel? Do dual yellow tops fit in the battery compartment?
