if you are replacing your pads I would suggest Akebono pads, i'm told they have great life and absolutely no brake dust. Brake dust can also cause Amigo problems so it's worth the extra cash to eliminate a future problem.

Default Falconworks kit

I posted about a three amigos issue a couple weeks ago (Mike - still owe you a call before I tackle this - thanks for the help). My question is, if using the Falconworks replacement kit, is it necessary to also do the recommended fix/mod discussed in the stickies?

When mine came on @ 130K, I bought the Atlantic British kit and replaced the shuttle valves.

Kit was $65 + shipping (multiple item order - go figure with a rover...) and took about 45 minutes to do the swap. I did it WITHOUT removing the modulator, which is OK if you have skinny fingers and some patience. I used the jycsalas link on his website.

No amigos. at. all.

It was, in essence, a $65 gamble, but let's be honest, I've gambled far more on far dumber (and blonder) things in the past. If you're gonna dive in there, I'd just swap it and be done with the deed.

IMHO, they're gonna fail sooner or later, and I like to do the easiest/cheapest things first. So I started with a job that can be done at waist level, with minimal tools, and a place to put my beer.....

So Falconworks or AB? I need to do this soon, as I am tackling the CDL install soon.

Falcon Works, cause you need their newly designed o-rings which is what leaks in the first place killing the shuttle valves, with out the new o-rings it will still leak and come back.

Kit just arrived today. It calls for a specific brand of fluid. Do I need to use this? I do not mind using it, but I still have some fluid left over from my brake flush.
