Three Amigos Lights / ABS module
I just got the brush off from Land Rover NA on an abs module with 10,000 miles and a year left on the warranty.I was 4,000 miles late for my 30,000 mile service interval and that was there way out. I don't want to give Land Rovers service department the money now on principal, looking for a good shop in the Chicago area.
I would contact Rovers local district office and ask to speak to the district service rep. Let them know what you were told by the dealer and that you feel none of that should effect the warrabty on the ABS issue, take a stand, be polite and let me know what they say.

Thanks Mike, I took your advice and started a claim, but I didn't want to waste too much time with it, I ordered a new module from ebcmdirect.com for 679.00 with a lifetime warranty, in the event that they still deny the claim, I still want it back on the road. There is a no refund policy on this part, so I may be selling it cheap to someone with an '03 in need. Since my local dealer already had it apart, I intend to pay them for the install of my new part, after further consideration, Ifeelit's not their fault that the powers that be are ignoring the defective module. Meanwhile, I'm stillgoing to search for agood independent shop nearby, we have a couple Rovers in the family. We love these trucks and have had good luck with the service department in the past, it's a shame that we are splitting hairs over a cut and dry warranty issue.
When will this module get a proper recall? Since it affects braking and it seems to fail frequently, I would think it would qualify. Mine was replaced under warranty but I'm not going to be surprised when it goes again, and you never really know since all three lights seem to come on (and I assume ABS, ATC and so forth are disabled) when there's any brake issue at all. Low pad on one wheel? Fail the whole system!
Fortunately I've got a great third-party Rover shop that's warranty-authorized (California Rover in Encintias) that tends to have a short wait for service and ex-dealer mechanics.

The ABS modual throw code along with speed sensor and yet if you test your brakes your brake, you will see the they are still pultsating as they should. Very seldomly does this need to be replaced. Keep your brake fluid clean and don't run dusty brake pads and your system will be alot better off.
I have had 5 sets of trios come on, each time for a different sensor and or module, clear the codes and they don't come back fo a year or so. Now you can go replace all the parts the dealer will tell you about, but there is no guarantee that it is fixed or that the trio won't come back on again.

I'll post if the aftermarket module install is a success, it would be comforting to have a warrantiedsolution at a fair price, I may have found it. It seems as though a recall would be out of the question, involving revising the part, there is probably much more to it, maybe a technical service bulletin would be nice to adress the issue as it happens, a low price alternative is definately needed as these trucks age, I hope I have found a solution that can be passed on in this forum, their was also a R/R rebuild offered for $479.00 by ebcmdirect.com, another nice option. It would seem to be a very courageous move to attempt the shuttle valve rebuild kit optionon my own. Still, a warranty is a warranty, I will still try to hold them to it on principal, for myself and for others to follow.
Just a couple of weeks ago I took my 2004 in for the light trio. Diagnosis was ABS shuttle valve switch fault at 35k miles on an 04. I had mine covered under warranty. Is something that is prone to happening on the 03's and 04's?
