Three Amigos Question Disco Mike??? Anybody
Your brakes are spongy because you need to flush out all the old fluid. There are only a few high end scanners that will read Land Rover ABS codes. Most buy an ABS Amigo.
Well the girlfriends 2000 Discovery decided to throw the Three Amigos-code p1590 code and p1668. I cleared the p1668 the 1590 will clear but come back on, the 3 lights stay on no matter what. So i drove her LR no pulsating or brake noises but at high speeds i slammed on the brakes and it took a while to stop. Real spongy brakes. almost like there is air in the lines? Brakes were changed a year ago. We have been soaked here in Cali if that has anything to do with it. Any suggestions, I refuse to get ripped off from the dealership and have gotten all my questions answered here and problems fixed, Thanks guys
Talked to Disco Mike, great smart guy, Thanks once again Mike. So far checked the brake fluid very clean, rear brakes are kind of low and rear rotors need to be changed. Need to rent a Amigo reader soon.
Grab a digital multimeter and test your ABS sensors while you wait on your ABS amigo. They should give you about 1000 ohms of resistance. If one is dead you know what your problem is.
That said, definitely get the Amigo before you go spending money. Much better to know what's wrong than doing the "hunt n' spend" thing.
