throttle body cleaning with pure alcohol
I would like to take apart the whole throttle body plenum and do a thorough cleaning. I want to soak it all in pure alcohol to losen up the carbon, then use a toothbrush for the tough part. Then finish up with the throttle body cleaner.
any risk in using pure alcohol? or should I use thinner

Best way to burn a Disco to the ground.
The inside of the manifold doesn't need to be clean and carb spray works perfectly well for the t/body and idle control.
Don't go causing yourself a lot of extra work.

i cleaned the iac valve and the T-body yesterday. just thought that taking it all appart will help in doing a better job.
so I'll leave it as it is.. thanks
just for the record.. where the risk lies.. in taking appart the plenum or using alcohol?
If this were a performance engine, yes it might be worth while, but not our near 50 year old Buick engine.
Consider doing an ATF engine flush, if not yet done, new Magnacor 8 mm wires if still running factory wires, both of these will help the old engine.
