To bypass, you disconnect the hose (5-16"? 3/8"?) coming out of the top of the engine and run it directly to the reservoir where the plastic tube once was. I probably would not block them off outright, but different strokes I guess...

simple, easiest, quickest, connect the two hoses together were they are with a .39 cent fitting and two hose clamps. take you under 5 minutes and cost under $5.

To answer the question Vai2kdna77 asked earlier today, the two hoses can be blocked off, or plugged, by inserting a short 3/8 in. bolt in the end of each hose and putting on small hose clamps to keep the bolts in place and prevent leaks. As kcabpilot pointed out the circuit has no value for anything else in the cooling system. We did this with a friend's truck a year ago.
