Throttle Body Heater Bypass Benefits
Hi guys. I know some here have bypassed the throttle body heater. Other than not having to deal with the leaks, does it offer any other benfits? Technically, since the air will be coolerit will bemore compressed and increaseHP.Any thoughts?
You won't see any benefit other than the one you mentioned...no more chance of leaking. For the cost of the $20 throttle body kit I just went ahead and changed it out to prevent any future problems, I know a few on here have bypassed theirs though.
I bypassed mine just so i didnt have to go out and get the new kit and waste time. All I did was take a small piece of copper pipe that I had in the house, I think 3/8ths thick, and used a small can to bend it into the shape of a U. Then I connected the two hoses that go into the throttle warming plate together. Works perfectly and there isnt a chance of it leaking so I would recommend it.
As for an increase in HP, it does sound somewhat logical, however I dont think it works in practice. At least I havent noticed any difference. Hope that helps.

Are there photo diagrams of how to do this or a write up? I can't find what I'm looking for in the search.
If you don't see an hp benefit why are you even bothering? Is there another benefit to doing this? I don't live in a cold climate so this may be a benefit, I guess. Sounds logical.
