Default Tilting Disco

Hello,

I've been reading the boards for a couple months now but I can't seem to figure this one out. I've got a 95 disco with 88K. I'm the second owner. 1st owner didn't do much, if any off roading. Problem is this: the right side (passenger side) is lower by 1inch than the left side. I figured this out because the car looks like its tilting. What I don't understand is how the front and back on the right side are both exactly 1 inch lower. The previous owner wasn't so overweight he needed the offset or anything. The front shock looks intact. Is this a factory thing or maybe a spacer was put in at some point that fell out? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Also, please advise on which ATF to buy. The manual says Dexron IID. All the "compatible" dexrons include II and IIE but not IID and since adding Dexron II compatible ATF a leak has developed.

Thanks in advance.

RM

Rovers coil springs tend to settle with age, some more then others. the fix is to replace the coils and shocks, and lift it back up.
As for the ATF, you can use Dextron 2 or Dextron 3 which is a synthetic. Neither of them caused a leak, it was leaking before, that is why it was low and you had to add fluid, now you need to crawl under and find the leak.

I had the same problem. When I changed my shocks and springs and stabilizer bar, I noticed that the srings on the Front High side of the Rover wasactually sprung andwas taller than the New HD OME Srings I put on. After the new stuff was on with 32 inch tires I got 5 inches of lift in front and 4 inches of lift in rear and the side are even now. Easy job to do and I had help for the back but did the front on my own. total cost $750

Thanks for the replies.

I live in a city with only the standard American auto parts stores. Which "common" brand dextron would you recommend? I haven't seen any Dex II. Is multi vehicle ok?
