Default Time to find a new shop

Had some work done at a local shop I've trusted for some time on my '04 Disco II after I f'd a few things up on the engine.

They told me my transmission was leaking all over and needed to be pulled and re-sealed. I said no thanks, I'll take a look at it later. This came as a bit of a shock to me as I recently serviced it and it was fine.

I looked underneath and saw the tranny was dry and clean. It's been shifting fine, too. My transfer case, however, was a bit wet. I fixed that up quickly enough.

Guess I need to find a new shop now. Wonder why they would tell me that? New guy looking to make some dough? Weird...

Every so often I take a car in to one of my long time mechanics which, who knows has been seeing some slow business at some point and decides they can rip me off to make it up. Unfortunately that tends to be the last time they see me.

Well, at least the mechanic didn't un-fix something so he could fix it later. I had that happen. My truck was in the shop and when I drove home the ACE dash light comes on. I had a serious leak from a fitting under the passenger side wheel well. I retightened it and refilled the res. And have never been back to that shop. That fitting couldn't have loosened itself at the shop.

I drained the rest of the transfer case and the fluid that came out was black. There were drops around the seal of the inspection plate and the nuts holding it in.

She's all cleaned up, sealed up, filled up now. ;-) We'll see if any new drips develop
