Default Time for New Cats

I'm in search of replacement Cats for my 1998 Disco1 w/118k on the ticker. I've just gotten the P0420 code and so far I have addressed (months ago just for mant/upkeep reasons) the following prior to the recent CEL coming on for the code:

1. New Magnacor Wires
2. New Bosch Plugs
3. Replaced all (4) O2 sensors
4. Fixed the Coolant leak from the front cover
5. Fixed the oil leak from the pressure sensor

Also, before I changed the Wires, Plugs and sensors I did a Sea foam treatment. No CEL light was popped at this time (only after the O2 sensor replacement didthe CELcome on and after about 100mi of normal driving).Which -to me- means that the sensors are now working correctly and telling me that I need to replace the CAT's. No other codes are showing or Pending codes. All Of the EVAP status are in the ready state on the reader. However I have also been noticing the following since the CEL light came on:

1. It takes alittle longer to shift from 2nd to 3rd
2. Reduction in gas milage.

My Discois running great and holding all of it's fluids...(yeah if you can believe it!). No Noises or Leaks coming from the Ex. Sys. I use only premuim gas and synthic blend oil.
Bottom Line........

What Weld in placeOEM or equiv. Cat's do I need?
Anyone have a Make and Model numbers they can recommend?

Thanks guys.

I would wait alittle longer, the ECU has to remap for the new O2's. It is very common for reduced MPG after new O2's are installed.
General rule of thumb is 3 tanks of gas to remap the ECU.
Once you start your 4th tank then reset the light and wait and see.

Spike555,

The CEL came on after the first 100Mi's long ago. Ive logged in dozens of tanks and a few ECU resets. The same code keeps coming up.

I'm just now getting to the point of having some time on my hands to strap on the old Vader helmet and go to town!
Ohyeah...I have to put the Disco threw PA inspection next month.

I don't know if linking to other forums is frowned upon here, but discoweb.org has a writeup on replacing cats on their front page, with part #'s etc.

These are the cats he listed, I have no personal experience replacing cats, just linking what i read elsewhere

All,

I've seen this post and it is helpful, I was just looking for the Personal exp. I just want to make sure I get the right size (ID/OD, 3way or 2way, ton rating etc.). If I remember that post is also for a '99 Disco II. I wasn't sure if there was anything different.
