Time for a new stepper motor?

RE: Time for a new stepper motor?
No need to worry about losing screws. If your truck is like mine it has plenty of extra hardware. At least I always seem to end up with extra hardware when I get done. I have a drawer in my toolbox that is 90% full of hardware that i couldn't figure out where it was supposed to go on the car when I put it back together.

RE: Time for a new stepper motor?
Well I replaced it and I don't think it's the stepper motor. I think it's the TPS.
I put the new stepper motor in, started it up and as usual it went to 2000rpm. I let it stay there and after about 30 minutes it SLOWLY came down to 900rpm. I let it idle like that for another half hour and decided to check it once again for vacuum leaks. I sprayed ethyr every possible place, but no change in idle. I figured I finally had it running right... but no!! I shut it off and IMMEDIATELY started it up again and it went to 3500rpms!!! I put my hand in front of the intake pipe and "smothered" it and the engine shut off, so I know I don't have a vacuum leak. I'm thinking it's the TPS... or maybe something else? Any ideas??

I hate to say it but it needs to go to the dealer. Mine did the same thing and what it was was the brain of the Disco was not thinking right it was think backward. Call a dealer and I am sure they will know what your talking about because from what I have learned is that this is common They will plug a computer to it and before you know it its fixed and down the road you go. I had to unplug mine and set the position by hand and then get it to the dealer so I would not be running around with a idle of 3k+

you need to reset your base idle... and also learn your stepper motor counts... they really arent plug and play, its not bad to do, but you need the right equip, ie. a testbook. if you go to the dealer and tell them thats what you want done, they shouldnt charge more then a hour to do it
