I had been considering the clothe style header wrap for a long time, but can't decide.
Less under hood heat would be great, but that heat has to go somewhere, which is obviously out the exhaust.
But first through the catalytic converters.
I am reluctant to heat them up any more than they already are.
Previous owner of my D2 put a 2nd set of rubber floormats under the stock rubber front mats.
They do get warm, so that helps with heat some.
I do plan on a radiant barrier under the carpet(and head liner). That will help stop the floors from getting so hot.
I don't want to cook the converters or O2 sensors either.
This is my first Land Rover, so I'm unsure if this could be an issue or not.
Anyone here wrapped their exhaust manifolds or headers? Thoughts?
I know Alex has wrapped headers, but he doesn't have converters either.
Thanks for any info.
And thanks Saturnine for the link. If I do wrap them, I'de like to try the adhesive kind. I know the non adhesive wrap works well.

To dissipate the heat from exhaust headers clean them well and spray them with 1000C matt black paint then lag the exhausts with titanium cloth for a couple of foot down the pipes. Your cats need hot gases to operate correctly but you don't want the headers overheating and warping.

The cats get enough hot gasses.
Heating them up more isn't ideal.
That's why I was wondering if/what others had experienced.
Headers(which I don't have) flow faster than stock manifolds too, but the cats can only flow a certain cfm anyway, whatever number that may be .

There should be radiant barrier between the cats and the floor, if not some thin aluminum will do the job, about 98% radiant heat reflectivity. I actually wrapped the cat on the passenger side in aluminum ductwork, so it only emits 2% radiant heat and the heat shield reflects back 98% of that 2%. I mostly did it to lengthen the life of the driveshaft u-joint.
