Tip from your Uncle Spike
Ok everybody, I got a nail in my left front tire, it is a slow leak so I have just been putting air in it for the last week.
Well I went to go and get it fixed on my day off and they wont touch it because my tires are to old, weather checked sidewalls.
So I had to put my spare tire on.
Now here is the tip, I do this every 6 months and in the first week of buying a used car.
Check the tire pressure in the spare tire, tires loose air at a rate of 1-3PSI per month, it does not have to be used to loose air.
Also with the rear mounted spare it is a good idea to remove the lug nuts that hold it to the spare tire carrier every six months and put anti-sieze on the threads of the studs so that the nuts dont rust to them.
Imagine being on the side of the expressway with a flat tire and youi cant remove the spare, and then when you finally do it is flat.
Also make sure that youi know where yoiur tire tools are and that you actually have them.
Read the owners manual so that you actually know how to change a flat and pratice it in your driveway if you have never changed one before.
While being chased by a guy with a chainsaw is not the time to figure out how to change a tire on your new car that you are not familer with.
Just a tip from your crazy Uncle Spike.

Good tip. I actually had to replace my spare tre carrier. I tried to get the spare off to wax behind it, and the bolt sheared off... No replacement studs from Rover, only the whole assembly (that i got used)
Check pressure especially if you have it under a cover. I went to get my spare out while detailing my old Volvo and it actually broke the belts and I had to de-flate it to get it out...

I had a similar thing happen on my Montero, I checked the tire PSI every 6 months but did not remove the nuts and one of them rusted to the stud after 4 years of road grim and salt.
Went to remove the tire to replace the wiper blade and snapped the stud off.
Wound up drilling it out and tapping a new hole and then putting in a new bigger stud with a new bigger nut.
So one nut takes a different wrench...DOH!

Been there done that Spike? LMAO!!!
I agree...the whole reason I don't like horror flicks. Things have happened in real life that even the writers of horror flicks haven't thought of. Anybody gets to chasing me with a chainsaw, they have to answer to my .40 S&W. Nobody in the world can walk through a hollow-point to the head.
I leave for a month, and I come back to find you guys talking guns... AWESOME.
Man, ever since King Obummer was crowned, I've been buying munitions like crazy. I'm not exactly sure how many new rifles, handguns, tactical gear and ammo I've acquired in the last couple months, but I'm pretty happy with it.
Unfortunately I can't stick around... I just wanted to make sure Uncle Spike was still keeping all you guys straight over here.
My Discos are well- Mandy hasn't rolled hers yet, so that's good.
Well... duty calls... Over&Out bro's.
Pat
PS- My new carry gun is a GLOCK 19, and Mandy's is a Ruger LCP .380!
