Default Tire recommendations

Time for new tires on my 2000 Disco II. I have the OEM original 255/65/16 Michelin 4x4's on now. Any recommendations for replacements/improvements/tires to avoid? I want to balance cost/performance/tire life. Thanks.

Stay with the 4x4's. Avoid Pirrelli's

while we're on the subject, can you put bigger tires on a Disco II than a Disco I on a stock ride height?

Bait,

Have you had problems with the Pirelli's? I have had Scorpions as my road wheels the last 40K miles. They seemed better (and half the price) of the XPC 4x4's that are stock to the 95 disco.

I will probably replace them with the Michellin Cross Terrain SUV's next go around, as I have them on my wife's Yukon XL and the Pirelli's are hard to get.

For off-road wheels I have used the Goodyear MTR's with good luck.

The Michellin Cross Terrain in my opinion is the best SUV tire in the world. I've had them on other vehicles and I just love em'.They cost a little more but they are worth every penny.Just last Monday I put a set on my Discovery and it feels like a whole new vehicle. The Goodyear's that came off went right into the dumpster, even though they still had lots of tread.(scalloped).The ride is like silk, and all that road noise I was getting with the "Woodyear's" is now gone. I chose the blackwall version instead of the raised white letter though.White letter tires just don't suit a Discovery in my opinion, besides they scream STEAL ME!

I have BFG All-Terrain T/As on my 2000, 245/70/R16. They're great tires. They're coming up the end of their life, though. I'm trying to decide whether I should buy 4 new of those, or switch to another tire, and have to buy 5 . . . Kind of spendy either way . . .
