Default Tire size for 18" with 2-3" lift.

Ok ok, probably asked 100 times. I'm not looking for "max size", I'm looking for a great functional tire, great look, but not bulbous.

I ran 285/75/16's on my Xterra before the wife totaled it. I love those for that setup, but I think that large may look tacky in these wheel wells, or off road only, on my Disco. I want the Land Rover to look the way it should, and not overfill the wheel wells. 80% of it's life will be on the roads of Alaska. I want it to be a Land Rover, but I can't afford it getting 10MPG when I'm not having fun.

So I'm thinking 275/65/R18's are about the largest I can go? 32" tire? I'll be putting them on the same time I drop a 2-3" suspension kit under it. It will never ride without the lift, so I'm not concerned about a pre-lift fit.

So I have these wheels. I've been pining over the web trying to find some nice 18" off road wheels (that aren't just steelies" but no dice. So, as these wheels are a bit unique and funky, I figure I'd give them a try to paint them anthracite or a black, and see how they look with meatier tires.

I run 255/65/18 on my stock height disco. I am going to run a 275/65/18 after I lift two inches.

Here's a photo of my tires for reference. They barely fit without a lift

255/70/18 is a good choice, one of my friends runs those on a 2" lift DII with no issues

JNJ, thanks for the reference. That 65 ratio looks perfect. Anything more in diameter and it would actually be larger than the wheel well, which is when I think tires start to look in-proportionate to the vehicle they are installed on.

I pulled up a calc and found the sizes I need.

32" tire options.

255/70R18 - 10.04" wide
275/65R18 - 10.83" wide

Next task is price and availability. I'm not going to wine about less than an inch in width difference. I'll go for the best look/function/cost.

Here's what yours would look like after a TF med lift and 32" tires.

I found that 275/65s had a lot of choices and fit well.

3 inch lift with 275/70/18's. It looks awesome and if you only go with 2 inches of lift you will wish you had gone 3 down the road. The BFG AT's are only $216 shipped! But prices in your neck of the woods may vary.

Just look at this damn thing!
