Default Toddco CDL conversion kit

Anyone know the story on the Toddco CDL conversion kit?

It states "Convert your non locking Discovery II transfer case to a locking differential with this kit. The kit is a complete bolt in kit, can be installed without removing the transfer case from the vehicle. This kit comes with a $75.00 core charge. You will recieve a return shipper label to return your exsisting non CDL unit."

If you're not removing the transfer case from the vehicle, and it has a core charge... Is this just a transfer case nose and replacement shifting mechanism?

Yep. Its just the front output. 400$ seems steep, I dunno though. As paul grant or someone if they have an lt230.

That was my thought as well. While you're rolling the dice, it looks like locking transfer cases and shifter packages on eBay are around $3-400(and then you have a backup transfer case when you're done).

Thanks!

Yeah, but you can just swap the output bearing and you'd be fine.

To give you an idea.... I bought an entire 2004 transfer case from a local wrecker for $400. I transplanted the front output assembly and sold the transfer case for $250. Perhaps I was lucky.... but it worked out well for me.

If you do the swap without removing the transfer case (and even if you do take it out), make sure not to pull on the hi-lo shifter fork as you pull on the old front housing, or to remove the spring loaded hi-lo lever indexer on the side of the t-case near the rear output shaft. If you don't, the small ball bearing will be pushed inside and it's gonna be a bitch to get out of there. I had to remove the rear output cover and redo both gaskets.
