Default Toddco Land Rover 5.0 HO Engine

I am considering the purchase of the Toddco 5.0 HO engine for my Disco II. Anyone here tried one the these yet? I've emailed them with questions but don't get a reply. Red flag ???

I've had nothing but bad luck ever since I bought this LR. Seems like you can't trust anyone in the Rover world. I don't know why I don't give up on this beast.... I'm just a really sick individual I guess.... that and I love it but I don't know why.

Perhaps a phone call - web sites are not always updated with links, etc.

I've used them before and haven't had any issues. This was just some suspension though, not an entire engine. Your sig says it's been down a year now?? I've had bad luck in the past on cars but the worst it's been was probably when I blew a head gasket on my first car, a BMW 325i, back when I had just turned 16. Sat in the garage for about a month while I followed some online DIY guide word for word. Didn't know a thing about cars back then.

The machine shop screwed up my block: bored cylinders off center.

I am not ready to tarnish their reputation.... yet. I am waiting to see if the block can still be used as a core if larger pistons/sleeves are used. If not I want the M/S to cover the core charge. If they won't then I'll have to decide at that point to trash their name.... or not.

I have been told by several that bumping up to a 5.0 would be a waste of money because of the limited capability of the "Thor" ECU. BUT Toddco has claimed that there is a noticeable gain in hp & torq due to the increased displacement, larger injectors and ported/polished "300" heads.

As far as a waste of money; it isn't because the engines comes complete and ready to bolt in for $6495.00 + shipping. With all the improvements, new parts and completely assembled I'd be money ahead compared to Turner or RPI that cost that much for just a "stripped" long block that is only a 4.0. So $$$$ isn't an argument in the decision. My concern would be with compatibility with the ECU and what problems might pop up; SES/OBD II codes and such.

I have considered the ones from Oklahoma on eBay but you only get a "stripped" long block for $5495.00; the Toddco is a complete engine ready to bolt in for $6495.00: a heck of a deal in comparison.
