It's not so bad. I rent a workshop bay with a vehicle hoist for $10/hour, $15 if I use their air tools. That beats crawling around on your back and having **** fall in your eyes and makes many jobs much easier. It's worth checking around in your area if you can rent some space.

10 bucks an hour? That's awesome man!

When I retire some day I want to have a garage with a 10,000 pound lift.....something like this

like everyone else said stick 99-00, if you plan on heading off road.

if you do then install some sytem either a D1 linkage, a toddco linkage, a t handle, a 10mm open end stubby in your glove box. something to engage that CDL.

yes the jump seats are removable but are a complete PITA if you want to add them. they are not as easy come easy go as the D1 jump seats, if that is what you have in mind. Also agree with Cam they are for midgets.

What he said. Why have anything other than the "greatest hits, world-wind tour, last of a dying breed edition"? Especially for around $10-12K tops. Besides, I see those lil roof rails on other Discos and cringe.

Less wind resistance, it's worth at least 0.0001 MPG

Besides you may save a few grand up front, but then you will have money in the Center Diff Lock upgrade, plus you will be dealing with several years of wear and tear extra that will add up before long. No 2004 is by no means new, but a couple of years can really make a difference on what needs repaired now.

And I agree the larger roof rails just look bada$$

I used to tell people the 04' was great until we started seeing a rise in engine problems here on this forum alone... idk I would risk larger roof rails for an engine that has proven to be sketchy at times.

Plus the CDL upgrade if you get a 99-00 is $400 max if buy the linkage band new. If you have someone install it, maybe a couple hundred more. That still leaves you way under what a 04 costs right now compared to what 99-00 are going for. aka more money for fun stuff.
