Are you looking for a non modifying dash unit?

YES! This what I am hoping for. Did you have to modify your dash?

The dash has clearly been modified. No cup holder tray. Look at the lower edge of the DIN box -- it's far lower down than on an unmodified setup.

Which exact model is that?
Was it hard to install? looks like you had to modify the dash a bit.

I have a single din pioneer with a motorized screen. It has airplay and android play and I put the USB connection in an empty slot near the gas door release. Also installed a reverse camera. So far it's been great and you can hide the screen while in use. I'd take pics but my daughter is out in it right now. Just remembered I have the box in the garage. It's a pioneer AVH-3500NEX.

Have you done many off road trips with this unit installed? Wondering how well it would hold up to all the rough driving

When i go off road I retract the screen, so no issues. Been great for a few years now.

Yes, I certainly did have to do some facia modifying to reorient for my layout. It wasn’t difficult at all really, infact it was fun. It was time consuming for me because I threw an hour here there at it for some evenings over a bit to get the whole dash the way I wanted.

I took a facia from a parts truck with intentions of blending parts and corners of 2 facia’s - which really wasn’t necessary. I read thru a post from someone in the UK who detailed there double din fabrication and it really made all the intimidating thoughts of this into conquerable shapes that were fun to see how easy it was achievable once I committed to it.

I’m using 2 maps at once usually when I’m off-roading. So I really wanted the double din built into the dash for support. I chose a unit I could mirror my iPhone for various map apps I use, the ease of CarPlay, and the price. - once the dash fits a double din- it’s not radio specific - over time i can continue to try new & upgrade. I use the pioneer 2660nex currently - mainly bc it was on sale at the time.

Good to know, that was one I was looking at. What's so bad about it?

I have the Boss as well since I couldn’t get the Pioneer. So far it works fine and install was pretty easy.

Edit: The Boss head unit I have is the BE9ACP from Crutchfield
