Default Towing a 2001 Disco II

Anybody have any advice or recommendations for towing a 2001 Disco II behind an RV.

I have already purchased a towbar and installed the brackets to the frame. If I place the transmission and the 4WD in neutral, does this completely disengage the drivetrain to avoid damage to the trans?

I was also told to leave the ignition key on only to the point that the steering wheel remains unlocked so that the tires would track naturally behind the motorcoach. Is this true and are there any other measures I need to take before towing it?

I had posted yesterday on another forum topic, but I'm running out of time. I need to pick up the RV in the morning so I'd like to know what I need to do before then if possible.

thanks for your time

Yes, both t/case and tranny in neutral and leave the key in the 2nd position so the wheels will turn. Only, slight, downside is that leaving the key on too long, could drain the battery so make sure the radio and vent system are turned off.
Have a good trip.

As long as the ignition is not "ON" but not "LOCKED" you will not drain your battery.

With the t-case in neutral and the trans in park the truck will roll down a hill, but to be 100% safe put the trans in neutral also.
