Q for Mike - towing the 2001 Disco II
Mike,
Not certain if this question is misplaced on the forum, but I just purchased a motorcoach from out of state and I'm going to use it to tow my 2001 Disco II back using a towbar. I was under the impression that if I place both the auto trans and the 4WD in neutral that this would successfully disengage all aspects of the drive train so that it would basically free-wheel down the road without damaging my transmission, etc. I also saw a comment about SUVs in general that the ignition key should be engaged just enough to unlock the steering wheel and that doing so would permit the front wheels to naturally track during turns, etc.
Can't seem to find any advice on the net in general, so can you tell me whether this will work and whether you have any tips for me in doing so?
thanks
Russell
