Towing a 2600 pound travel trailer.
Tongue weight should be OK (it adds to vehicle GVW, people, gear, and fuel; not to exceed GVWR). Trailer should have it's own brakes, electric will require a controller, surge brakes usually have a small electric valve that is triggered from the back up light circuit to disable brakes when backing, like up an inclide. Be sure you have your gas card, mpg will drop to amazing levels. This would be about the largest you could go with this vehicle IMHO. Practice in a secluded area.
I just towed a 12x6 uhaul of roughly the same weight, maybe a little more, 1750 miles across the United States. It had a surge brake, but it wasn't electronic. Averaged slightly over 13 mpg going 62mph the whole way. Stopped in a timely fashion, handled great. No issues.
Used my 02 to haul my Road King (900lbs ish) in a uhaul (1000lbs ish) about 700 miles. Got between 12 and 14 at about 70. (After droping the bike and trailer I went back to 17 for the return trip.) No issues. As with any vehical stopping is slugish with a trailer, just anticipate.
