Even with the 4.6l V8 the Disco is very underpowered. I would plan on going very slowly and sticking to the right lane. Land Rover was crazy to think 217bhp was enough for a nearly 5000lb SUV, let alone towing with. Have fun!

Cheers,

Pete

Good advice Switz, I will definitely take it easy. I honestly feel like my 2000 has more power than the 2004... but the '04 might just need this "induction cleaning" you guys speak of... I don't know.

The 2000 4.0 has this smooth, balanced idle to it, while the 2004 almost sounds like a tractor. Not to the point of concern, and it's still very powerful...

Hopefully I meet someone with an '04 before too long to see what theirs sounds like.

Pat-my friend has already sold his trailer.
Try the repo lots.
www.michigancreditors.com is one that I have looked at before.
There is also one in Hudsonville but they usually only have cars and trucks.

Disco2Fever - make sure you look me up when you get to Colorado. I will be interested to know how the Disco does towing a trailer

No problem Spike- we're still looking- thanks for checking though!

AK- I definitely will, bro! I'll be in Colorado Springs for at least a week visiting a couple good friends of mine, but we'll certainly be going camping out of town as well.

Hey- any idea how the AT&T service is out there? I'll be dependent on access to the internet for my job, but can get it through my iPhone as long as I'm in good service.

Thanks!

Most of Colorado is covered pretty well by AT&T. I've never had a problem in the Springs, even at the top of Pike's Peak. Once you get out in the mountains you'll find more dead spots but it's not too bad.

I tow everything with my Disco II. I have towed a 16' car trailer with a Grand Cherokee on it, a 21 foot trailer with a Suzuki sammy on 42s on it, my 20 foot center console boat, a uhaul trailer with my dads 68 HEAVY GTO on it. No problems ever. Sure acceleration is somewhat slow, but once I get up to speed, it never downshifts to keep up or anything like that. Just thought I would chime in on the whole towing thing.

On another note, if the guy wanting the brake controller had the job done, please post some pics.
