Can he tow a 1500lb trailer with that car?
Yes.
Should he?
Thats upto him.

Our NAS Rovers are rated at 5500lbs, the rest of the world, with the EXACT same engine, trans, etc. is rated at a max of 7,000lbs.
Lawyers guns and money you say?

He can put his guns in the trunk, have a lawyer on retainer and use his money to pay for any repairs to his car.

The camper, with all the gear, is going to weigh in closer to 2,000lbs.
He would be wise to tow it in 3rd gear and keep it at 65mph or below.
His car has a trans temp warning light I am sure, if that comes on while towing he needs to pull over right away, let the trans cool and then drive slower and then have a bigger trans cooler installed.

It all boils down to the transmission and the brakes, if he is a experienced trailer tower he can compensate for the increased braking distance and shorter brake pad life.
And yes, this WILL void his new car warranty should the trans fail, and lets face it, its a Chrysler and they are notorious for having bad transmissions.
