Toyota Owner Who Dreams Loves Discos
You may be recalling the real jeep wagoneer, this dog was a unibody, looks the same as the cherokee sports (do they still make them?) Mine even had woodgrain vinyl sides, (I'm getting a stomach ache, and not from laughing)
luck,greg
Spencer, a lot has been said about the reliability issues, and I want to argue the point. I know guys that only add oil for 60k miles (never changed and original from the factory filter) that complain about reliability. If you do your preventative maintenance and use good parts, these trucks are as faithful as your trusted Golden Retriever. At a little over 100k miles the only things that have been done to my rig is the STI plug wires, +4 plugs and the rebuilt drive shaft. I just started to get seepage at my valve covers, and that is the only leak on the rig. And once you know where to get your parts, it is faster and easier to get parts than for Toys. I had to wait a week for calipers to come in for dads Toy. AB has never made me wait that long for anything.
good points. i will add that my 04 has been very good to me so far. i love the truck and treat it well. i use and abuse it just as much, but in the end i give it the care it needs.
save for the electrical gremlins that we all will get at some point in our brakes (i have learned to ignore the 3 amigos) these rigs are wonderful just being what they are.
parts are easy to get and not any more in cost then other brands of vehicle. in some cases cheaper. they are easy to work on, because the way they are built is classic and proven.
hell, i have forgot how to work on a rig so simple. the last vehicle i had that was this easy was my first rig in high school (69' el camino). since then it has been new and more difficult cars. getting under the rover is like conjuring up old memories from school when i was 15 and 16 and laying under the rig and just wrenching knowing i couldnt mess anything up too bad. other rigs and vehicles are so complicated that you cant even change the oil without having to reset computers and what not.
and like i mentioned in a earlier post. the rover is just a wonderful truck to be in. you feel like you are in a truck, but something special.
