Default TPS Replacement

Hi All, I just purchased a TPS for my 04 Disco II. Afterwords I started it up and it was idling too high. Is there a secret step I don’t know about. I did it because Google said if you have a 4th gear incorrect ratio CEL that a faulty TPS could cause it. Thanks

Secret step is to reset Adaptive Values in the ECM. Needs an electronic tool connected to the OBD port. Putting the old one back might solve it, or it might also rev high if it changed position a little.

Default TPS/4th Gear Incorrect Ratio

Hi All,
I was told that I needed to put the truck back to stock “adaptive values” so I purchased the Launch Elite to do so. Well either I’m stupid or the instructions suck, or both! I can’t figure out how to do it. Is there anyone out there that is familiar with this tool that would be willing to help (pretend I’m a pre-schooler) 👶 Thanks in advance.

I’m not familiar with that tool, but have done it on a Nanocom. If you google how to do it with a Nanocom, you might be able to figure it out.

However, my suspicion is that is not your issue and instead may have a vacuum leak somewhere.

Here's what I do: I did not buy a special device, rather use my Samsung tablet running the GEMS Lite app. That app has a feature to Reset Adaptive Values. Takes about a minute or less. The tablet communicates with Bluetooth to the OBDLink LX dongle I use to plug into the OBD port. Sorry, I don't know about Launch Elite.

PS Sorry my truck is a D1, forgot this is for a D2.
