Traded my 96 Disco in, have a few bits left
So I kind of got tired of constantly fixing my truck with no garage withalmost constant 20mph wind, and the fuel milage on the drive home to Denver (250 miles each way) every weekend so I traded my 96 Disco in on an 08 VW GTI.
I have acouple of things left over that I need to clear out"
Almost brand new 95-98 Factory Bentley Service Manual. Has been used a couple of times so not perfect. Lists for $129 on Atlantic British where I bought it.
I would like to get $50 out of it.
I also have a used drivers door window regulator that showed up today, a couple of days too late from Roverland.com. I paid $100.00. I would like to get $50.00 out of it as well.

So are you saving money with the VW? In all seriousness, with the new car payment VS. repairs and gas?
I'm not being cynical, I really want to know.
How much were you spending on repairs per month? Gas?

I bought the rover a couple of years ago, it was the first car I ever financed. I had a $200 payment on the rover. I have avereaged at least a couple hundered bucks a month in parts lately. In the last month I had to do the driver side C.V. joint, the front axle wheel bearings, the rear cargo door hinges. The windshield just started leaking. The drivers side window regulator went out last week. I have been averaging about 3000 miles a month since I started working in wyoming a year and a half ago and it was taking its toll on the rover. I have been spending at least $500 a month on fuel since I moved up here, usually much more. The oil pressure light just started coming on when the truck would idle after coming off the highway, the O2 sensors are just starting to go out, the tires would have needed replaced before winter. I liked the car but it was really really not practical for what I was using it for. I haven't had it off road for over a year and that was the reason I bought it. The payment on the GTI is just under $500, my iinsurance is about $20 a month more now, the fuel mileage is 2-3 times better. On the drive backfrom picking it up in denver I had the cruise set at70 and it got 42mpg average on that trip. I will probably look for a Series 2 or3 rover for a toy next spring however.
