Tranny not upshifting after XYZ switch work.
I spent yesterday fiddling with my XYZ switch in an attempt to correct some flashing M and S lamps and limp mode problems.
I clean it up and reinstalled it. The flashing lamps and limp mode seem to be gone.
But I spoke too soon, Mike, as now then tranny won't upshift. Is seems to be stuck in 2nd.
Anyway, the lamps on the console and the letters on the dash track just fine for "P", R", and Drive "2". I only get brief illumination for the others, and that's only after I've moved through them, and nothing on the dash.
It's been sitting for almost 3 weeks so I took it around the block for a test drive despite the lamp issue. Anyway, it wouldn't upshift. I tried to manually put it in the various Drive gears but it stayed where it was.
I was an idiot yesterday and checked the tranny fluid cold and while it was on the ramp...I lost about 1/2 quart or so before I could get the fill plug back in. But I'm inclined to say it's a new species of XYZ switch problem instead of a fluid level issue.
Thoughts?
Edit: I can get the shifter LEDs to work and dash to display "D" and "N" if I hold it between D3 and D and D and N. However, the tranny is not actually in those gears. The second I move the shifter up a hair, the display/LEDs go out and the tranny clicks into those gears.
I also disconnected and reconnect the battery several times should there be a fuse issue.
