Transfer case failure

Transfer case failure
Hey guys,
So without further a due, my transfer case is on it's way out. The diagnosis has now been confirmed and what's happening can be found in my previous thread: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...e2/#post307451
With that all being said, what are my options? Is there just one part that goes bad? Rebuild? Buy used? Salvage yard?
I've noticed a lot of used D1 and DII transfer cases available online. Are the DI tc's compatible with my DII? Don't care so much for the locking diff, just want to know if it's a direct bolt in without much modification. Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated.

First, stay away from any t/case that is not an 03 or 04, there are big differences in seals oiling, length and electrical especially the others have a different style shift solenoid and other electrical components.
Let me know if you can't find one, I may have a friend with one.
If you can, get a 04 along with the shift linkage and convert your 03 to a CDL with a lot more traction.

I cannot figure out why it went bad... I change the diffs and tc oil once a year (total overkill) with Redline Synthetic 75W-90. Maybe 75/85-140 will be more appropriate from now on.
