Quick question... Many available transfer cases state "w/o lever'' meaning some kind electronic engagement of the transfer case? Mine has the little boot that manually operates the transfer case. Are they compatible? My initial feeling is no or this feature doesn't exist...

The lever is what is ontop of the t-case that attaches to the shifter inside the cabin.
The '04 uses a cable, the DI uses a linkage.
If all you are ever going to do is drive it down the road and never need lo or any of the CDL gears you do not need the lever on the t-case.
You can buy the lever separate, e-bay for example.
A DI lever will work on any t-case.

discoweb.org -- has a write up on replacing the bearings on the output shafts, just something to consider.
