I just did it a couple of weeks ago and I could not find my extension, no problem without it, move the parking brake cable, loosen it with the ratchet, remove ratchet then remove by hand.

yeah gonna have to do that, actually i broke it loose and can get the ratchet out, then have to remove it the rest of the way by hand, its just time consuming. i was gonna cut down a 1/2 in square head and weld the cutoff to a scrap piece of iron and bend slightly at the end if i cant get it by hand... i can make something up but dont think I'll have to.
if it can be done im sure I'll get it, one way or the other.

Didnt hurt the threads turning that plag with pliers? im sure the breaker bar will work fine, i havent been into it myself, neighborhood oil changin' guy down the street is...

Similar to these..
and GENTLY was the key word here.. I brought it out as far as I could with the 1/2 inch drive and then used them, now the threads are cleaned up as I've been checking the fluid level once a week as I have a leaky rear output shaft seal, I can loosen it with my hand once I back it out a bit with the 1/2 inch drive..
