Default Transfer Case Inspection Plate - RTV?

My inspection plate is leaking pretty bad. I put some blue devil in it a while back , but the leak is back and time to fix it right. My question is, should I use the RTV ultra black or the grey? My research is providing me with conflicting information.

Thanks!

Personally I’ve used the Ulra Black and Grey interchangeably. I’m not an expert on this but I haven’t had issues with either of them.

Question on this, I replaced my fluid, pulled out the bolts bc I thought the cover may be leaking. The cover was stuck on after pulling the bolts so I left it alone. It looks like I have a leak from one of my bolts. If I recall correctly they were not all the same length, does anyone have an idea of which bolts go where? It think that may be the source of a leak.

Or, I could be completely mis-remembering and the bolts are all the same.

Thanks

Is your intermediate shaft O-ring leaking?

yes, I do think it is leaking. But it also looks like there is a leak around the bolts. If I recall they are different lengths and I may have put them back in the wrong order.

your likely to crack the casting or strip the threads if you were to install incorrectly.
If you don’t have an order soon, I am just about to pull my inspection plate off this weekend.

Thanks, i would not have done that, so I suppose that is not the issue. Must be the o ring, need to figure out that repair. I was hoping to not have to drop the whole thing.
