Lightbulb Transmission dipstick added...

Hi.
To save members from scratching heads on how could be done, some explanation under the picture :
----> Discovery I Transmission Dipstick Into Discovery II Photo by Innernet | Photobucket

I did it this way because I do not want swapping oil pans with a DI. Just got a DI tube.

Now the surprise. Been running low on fluid. So far added 2 quarts and still does not show on the dipstick . Will buy more and add later. The hardest part of all the surgery was putting a screw and nut for the support at the block ear . Really difficult !

First off, I would have loved a dip stick on this darn truck. Would have saved me some grief but honestly, the fill plug concept isn't a bad thing. I mean, when it's running, the fluid should barely be dripping out of the plug... not much room for error there.

Also. Photobucket being photo bucket... you got some neat electrical diagram on there haha

Can you post another pic of how the tube was routed up and around the trans?

From Externet:
"From a 2" long; 3/8" NPT nipple as pipe material ( I used brass), one of its threaded ends chased with a M16 x 1.5 metric die (not an easy find, but friendly guys at a Kubota shop had it),....Then a 2" piece of oil duty 5/8" hose section in place, accepts a Discovery I dipstick tube with 1/8" of its flare end sliced off barely remaining any flare signs left (and collar nut removed),. ....Two clamps on the hose and NOT done yet : The huge nightmare of putting a screw and nut to hold the support bracket were it belongs was by far the sweatiest part, taking over one hour to accomplish.?

The tube is not "routed up" The DI stock tube has the proper curvature and length by itself and fits down to that piece of 5/8" hose, and its bracket holder above tells the positioning meeting the mounting hole in the block. Cannot be placed wrongly.

(The 5/8" hose mates the dipstick tube and a nipple inserted in the transmission thread)

Sure it's routed up. But I figured it out on my own. I don't have a rubber adapter hose since I used a D1 pan.

With a D1 oil pan and a D1 dipstick tube with its securing nut, there is not much margin of error to install the tube bracket.

The piece of hose inserted is for the stock DII oil pan with a nipple at the transmission, mating a D1 tube with its nut removed by sawing off the flare.
