Default transmission fluid change

I'm gearing up to change out all the driveline fluids; t-case, tranny, diffs, seems pretty simple. Only question is that in the Rave CD is says when changing the trans fluid to go through all the gears at a standstill and fill until a 2mm bead comes out? Not sure how I can estimate a 2mm bead, but I'm gonna fill it until it's full. Any simple tricks to make this job simple?

Pull the drain plug, drain out the pan, replug the fill thru the fill plug till fluid comes out the fill plug, put the plug back in, then start the engine, go from reverse to drive at least 2 times, then put in park, crawl under the truck and add whatever amount is needed untill the fluid again flows out, your done.

Something I've found useful in the past... make sure you can undo the fill plug before you take out the drain plug. Nothing worse than not being able to refill something you've just drained the oil out of

Cheers,

Did you use the filter kit at 60k or just replace fluid?

If you look at your owners manual, a filter replacement is only required on the 30K, past that it is fluid changes only.

So Mike, I'm not sure if my filter was changed at 30k; should I do it as part of my planned 60k fluid swap?

Who did your 30K? Do you have the maintance records, that is normally included in the 30 K which is a free service from Rover. You can always ask the dealer if the 30 was done.

I was about to change my truck's transmissionfilter and oil but not sure where it says on the manual only to replace the fluid after the 30k, and not the filter with it. Can some one please advice if I should or should not replace the filter? I bought the Valvoline Mercon V Fully Synthetic is this type of oil o.k. for our trucks? It does say on the bottle "For use in trransmissons calling for MERCON V OR DEXTRON III/MERCON fluids. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Fabian

On D2's you don't need to replace a filter after the 30K has been done, just as the manual says.

I did the oil change but could not replace all oil. Was I supposed to leave truck on when checking the oil level? I believe I still need about 1 quart more but could not add it please advice.

Sincerely,
Fabian
P.S.
Any one interested in changing transmission oil must buy small manual pump ($5) to pump oil into transmission fill plug.
