Does that mean no flushing ??? Others have mentionned that flushing the transmission can lead to problems ??? But if you don't flush youonly replace about half the fluid. If I decide not to flush, can I replace the filter and then fill with synthetic ATF and end up with a semi-synthetic oil. Again, some have said to have done that and noticed smoother gear changes with no long termadverse effect.

And I guess that just like the ACE system, the more often you do a fluid change withsynthetics, the more the actual amount of synthetic is present with time.

Flushing is not advised on high mile trannys, it can cause more issue then you want to deal with.
Your owners manual tells you a filter is no necessary, you would be better off just changing your fluid a litle more frequently for better longevity.

 

I realise that Mike, but the truckis a 2000 with55000 miles, and has been abroad from 2002 to 2005 in almost 3rd country like environment. I have absolutely no idea if the filter has ever been changed and that is why I got one for my next transmission service that will take place within the next few weeks. So I want to change it for the sake of knowing it has been done.

But how about my question regarding the possibility of just dropping the pan, cleaning it, change the filter and refill with full synthetic ATF without flushing ???? Then I could have piece of mind for a few years, since I just did the axles, I'm changing the t-case output seal tonight and will be changing the fluid. That way I'll only have the Head Gasket to monitor until I'm ready to have the job done.
