Transmission Fluid Temperature Warning Light

i wouldn't risk driving the truck till you know what code is causing the light to come on.

If it is the high temp light you're talking about, so long as you did not get water in the trans, let it cool off and you should be fine. As you said, the light is probably from of pushing all that water out of your way. The extra stress on the trans heats the fluid more than normal.
Under the same conditions, new fluid would probably trigger the light as fast as old stuff, but you should change it anyhow if you have not done it in a while. It is an easy driveway job. Change the filter too, it's not expensive and takes a few extra minutes.

It's the little red light at the top right of the instrument cluster that looks like a thermometer in a puddle.
My pal at JLR told me to change the transfer case oil and diff oil, so I'll do the transmission while I'm at it.
ATF sure is expensive. How many liters / quarts do I need?
Can I use regular ATF for the tranny and / or regular EP90 for the diff and transfer case or does it have to be special stuff made from unicorn pee or something stupid?
I have to drive about 60 miles in it today as I need a car with a roof rack to carry a ladder, but it's all freeway, so I should be okay, I hope, for that. I can pencil in the changes for next week, do the engine oil, tranny, diff and transfer case all in one day.
Another question - how easy is it to fit high level tranny etc. breather kits to stop water getting in next time we flood?
