Default Transmission Mode switch

Mine does not seem to be functioning, I have not checked low range/manual but Hi/Sport does not illuminate the light.
It did work prior to doing my head gaskets
  • Lights do work when the key is 1st turned on as per all the other lights
  • Charging via torque show between 13.6 and 14.1
  • Everything else appears to work correctly
Any troubleshooting suggestions ?

Pull the bezel & make sure it’s not blow out (plastic is known to break). The switch will not activate if the assembly is broken.

Problem solved a tiny dim light bulb came on in my mind, checked the engine to firewall ground. The ground bolt was loose, tightened it up and light is a happy, not to mention about a 1000 other things I am sure.

Once again thanks for your help

You might have started to get misfires pretty quickly with that strap loose. It's the closest ground to the coils and they like to be well connected. Good thing you found it!

@mollusc Funny thing about that I also put a "new" alternator in, I was going to check it out as my VHF radio reset when I was trying to send, that is always power or ground.

Then it occured to me that ground had been removed, I wrote a big note to check this am and the nut was barely hand tight
