I have a 96 disco in a 5 speed. How much fluid should I use? Is there a filter to change as well? What are the proper steps....

It is a waste of money to add some synthetic to old ATF. The only way that can be done right is a total flushj of the system and if you mileage is too high, it can cause the tranny to fail.
What year, model and mileage??

Is it safe to drain mine and refill? 96 disco in a 5 speed with 115,000.

I am not sure about a manual trans. I do not know the drain/fill procedure or what type of fluid it takes. Sorry I cant help you on this one.
