Transmission oil temperature light on
(94 disco) Having just done a diy head job on my engine, and then sending to a pro for tuning, I now get the following problem.
The Transmission oil temperature warning light comes on after ten minutes driving, the coolant temperature gauge stays happily in the mid range. When I stop and pop the bonnet I can hear the coolant bubbling away in the pipes as though it is boiling and the reserviour seems ready to explode.
Should I believe the temperature gauge and consider the coolant as being OK even thought it sounds like it is boiling?
Where should I start with the Transmission oil temperature diagnosis? The sensor, how can I check with it?
Also the pro set the base idle control while the fuel injectors seals were compromised, I have since replace the o-rings and now the idle speed seems to be very high, 2K revs when first starting up then after running for a while it is at 3K when stopped at the light in neutral.
Could this be part of the cause for the Transmission oil temperature warning?
Other then that the engine seems to be running OK.
