Default Is Transmission R&R on Disco II Automatic that difficult?

A local garage is quoting $750 labor to R&R Transmission to replace rear core plug. (I already replaced side core plugs myself.) Is the job really that involved. I am thinking I may pay myself $750 to do the job, but not sure if it is too involved. I am assuming a book rate of 4-5 hours, based on his price. If it took me 8 hours to do it myself. That is still $100 an hour to pay myself, plus I know it will be done right. Is it worth $750-850 to have someone else fool with it? Does anyone have experience doing it?

Thanks in advance for replies-

You mean the rear core plugs on the engine block?
If so then you either need to drop the transmission or pull out the engine, both are equally painful jobs and require lifting gear or a transmission jack. Sure you can do it yourself, just plan on a weekend of cursing. Replace the rear main oil seal while you are in there, it's guaranteed to leak right after you button everything up.
