Default transmission swap question

Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me if a 2001 Discovery transmission will fit a 2003 Discovery? I've got a chance to by a 2003 with a bad transmission and have found a 2001 transmission. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, the trans is the same. Have fun with the swap... How much is the trans? I think Will Tillery sells them for only $500 and offers a good warranty.

True story. The 03-04 have a heavier duty version for the larger engine.

I would have mentioned the two part numbers but I can't remember them, it's like 4bh22 or something. I'll try to find it. The later one is a half inch longer.

Edit: The early(99-02) is 4HP22 and the later(03-04 to handle the 4.6L) is 4HP24 both ZF transmissions designed in the 80s...

It will work

BUT

Get everything from the flywheel back. The spacer rings are different and if you put the 03/04 in it may burn itself up

Well, don't I feel stupid. That's what I get for assuming anything!

BUT, on a more positive note, I am parting an '04 D2 w/ 82k miles on it. Ran and drove fine before I started pulling bits from it, I personally put about 100 miles on the truck before starting the part-out. I had the trans tentatively sold to a friend for his '01, but now realize it won't be plug & play for him. BUT, it would be for you! I'd take $400 for the trans, but we have to figure out shipping.
