Default transmission woes

My transmission was acting up on my 03 Disco with 90,000 miles. I changed the transmission oil out with som Valvoline Max Life Dex/Merc and ever since it has been hesitating when I first start it up and put it in reverse. Now it has gotten to where it seems to hesitate when I take off form a stop. Also it feels like a hard shift into 3rd. If your going to tell me it is shot please help me out with a few things. If I have to swap it out can I swap it out for a 5 or 6 speed instead of the 4 speed?

Did you check the fluid level again?
It sounds like it is low on fluid.

You are aware its not susposed to gush out. Its susposed to be a steady stream. At maximum, 2 mm wide stream is what your are looking for. Vehicle must be running on level ground.

You are supposed to check the fluid level again after driving it for a day.
No being overfilled should not cause this problem but being underfilled will.

If you check the level with the engine off, it will give you a false full. Also best to check after sitting for a while, overnite prefferbly. Otherwise, drain a qt of fluid and try a bottle of lucas trans fix. It did wonders on my '98. Delayed replacing the trans for a yr or better

I took your suggestions and it worked. The write up said that a gallon should be enough, and it was giving me a false positive since I had the engine off. With it running it took almost another gallon and a bottle of lucas. All better now.

Just to answer your question, no you can not switch out to a 5 or 6 speed tranny.
I am still not sure you know how to service/fill the tranny or how to check the fluid.

After draining out the fluid I used a vampire pump to fill the transmission until it flowed out. Then I started the truck end went through the gears like the write up said and rechecked the level. Problem was I would turn the trick off before rechecking the fluid. When I checked out with the engine running it took almost twice as much fluid. Does that sound right?
And the question about switching out the tranny was just for curiosity. It send like wroth the proper flange it should not be an issue. Granted you would have to change the axles and almost everything else too. I've seen some mods with unimog axles.
