Default Transmission write up?

After going to JC's British 4x4 here in Englewood CO. I received the news that the Disco is in need of a new transmission. Considering on tackling the issue myself. Does anyone have any good write up's?
Thanks!

Will not move when in reverse until 1700-1900 r.p.m.'s, same applies when cold and in drive. Added Lucas as one last hope, it did make the gears shift a lot smoother. Haha ha..

Have you tried changing the filter first?
You can buy the trans filter kit at AutoZone for like $20, takes a half hour to DIY in your drive way.
There is a write up on it in the write up section.

I also have the Rave Manuel but figured more info couldn't hurt.

Seriously, change the filter before doing anything else, these transmissions are just about bullet proof, they almost never fail.
After you change the filter drive it for a week and then change the fluid again.

I did change the filter @ 102k and just changed out the fluid but no new filter @ 132k and no difference. Would a filter have that much of an impact? 132 and change is on the odometer now
.

It could, its cheaper than a transmission, its up to you, but thats what I would do.

Carlos, send me your number and lets talk, both about Jeff, his estimate and what other options you have.
